What is Stress?

Stress, or being stressed, is a term we use when we are over loaded and don’t have the resources to cope with the pressures we experience in life. This could be a combination of small stresses such as being late, car troubles, commuting delays or feeling like you are having a bad day. Larger causes of stress can include

  • Work demands
  • Family problems
  • Bereavement
  • Disputes
  • Public speaking
  • Weddings or celebrations

We need a certain level of stress, more commonly known as motivation, in our lives. How would you accomplish anything if there wasn’t a driving force behind your actions? This could be the want to lose weight, quit smoking, give a successful presentation or to accomplish another goal you have been focused on.

Symptoms of Stress

When we don’t have the resources to cope with the pressures we experience we begin to feel anxious. The unpleasant symptoms of anxiety can include

  • Elevated pulse rate and blood pressure
  • Sweating
  • Nausea
  • Rapid breathing
  • Tension in your body
  • Indigestion
  • Stomach issues

If you don’t manage your stress your symptoms could become steadily worse and eventually you could experience

  • Sleep irregularities
  • Mood swings
  • A short temper
  • Reduced confidence and self esteem
  • Panic attacks
  • Impotence
  • Menstrual disorders
  • IBS (irritable bowel syndrome)
  • Compromised immune system

We will teach you Hypnotherapy techniques to assist you in staying calm and relaxed in times of pressure. We will also teach you NLP reframing techniques so you can change how you think about the stressor.

Learning to manage the stressors you experience will allow you to take control of your feelings and over come any challenging situation you are presented with.
